The College of Optometrists in Vision Development was pleased to promote Vision Therapist Appreciation week October 4-8! We often hear about how the vision therapist(s) are so integral to the success of patient care, and practice as a whole… the heart of the office.

Check out how some offices celebrated their Vision Therapists in fabulous and creative ways!

Amy is the sweetest thing about our office. She is a pastry
and dessert chef by trade, but a vision therapist by heart.
She is the most patient and empathetic person I’ve ever
known. She’s the sweetest!
Erika is the heartbeat of our practice! She handles all of the
needs for our main vision therapy clinic and makes sure that
we are running smoothly day to day. Our patients love Erika
and so do we! We are so thankful for her!
Rebecca is the most dedicated and determined person on
our team. She goes above and beyond to make sure her
patients succeed and achieve their goals. She is constantly
thinking of activities to challenge her patients. She’s the
best!
Miss Jill ROCKS! She is at the core of our vision therapy
program as our lead therapist and master scheduler.
Patients, parents, and staff love her for her fun personality,
great sense of humor, and empathetic nature. She works hard and it shows. We love our Jill!
“A small team, committed to a cause bigger than
themselves, can achieve absolutely anything.” -Simon Sinek
The CVD VTs change lives every day and the world is a better
place because of it.
Marissa is the heart of our Vision Therapy practice being
our chief therapist and administrator for over ten years. As a
former special needs educator, she has brought her
knowledge and expertise to the therapy room where she has
grown each year in her knowledge of functional and
perceptual therapy for the child and adult including binocular
and accommodative dysfunction, oculomotor and
perceptual disorders as well as care for the individual with
brain injury/ concussion. We are so fortunate to have her
and so are our patients. The testimonies below reect the
success we have had and the lives we have changed.
Mindy is the backbone of #MVTC and handles the visual
processing assessment at our initial evaluation. Her calm &
kind demeanor helps each patient feel comfortable & she
reassures kids, there will be nothing painful. In fact, it’s a
pretty fun appointment! She loves getting to meet &
learn about each patient, and educate patients, parents,
teachers & other professionals about vision therapy.
Our mission is “Improving Vision, Changing Lives” our team
embodies this every day. The patients who come to see us
have the opportunity to interact with creative, passionate,
knowledgeable, talented vision therapists. Today and every
day we celebrate their dedication to our mission!
Mr. Barry is the OG at #MVTC and has been here for almost
the entire ride, since 1995! Mr. Barry is incredibly
knowledgeable (he’s our go-to #syntonics guy), very patient
& calm, and cares so much about his patients.
Cindy has been with our practice for 12+ years. She is a gift
in ever form of the word, having a background in teaching
she has endless patience for training. She connects with
each patient she works with and gives 110% for ever
session. Our staff is our blessing, and in many ways Cindy is
the heart of that blessing. We could not ask for a better
Chief Therapist!

Roswell Eye Clinic appreciates and acknowledges Melissa
Snyder COVT for her dedicated work in helping patients in
vision therapy!
Matt has dedicated his career to getting the best out of his
patients. He can empathize, encourage, and bring out the
best with kids. He has been in the game for over 20 years
and still brings it every day.
From our patients: “Ben is awesome and really connects to
my son. He obviously cares a lot. He is unfailingly patient!”
Swithin is always eager to learn more and apply his skills to
improving patient care. He takes every course available, and
has really upped our therapy game with our brain injury
patients.
Stephen brings joy to his work, and always engages his
patients creatively
Kate is a kind, giving, and creative therapist. She makes the
shyest kids feel at ease and encourages them to do their
best.
Mr. Michael is known around our office for his sense of
“humor” (#badpuns #dadjokes #notevenadad), brightening everyone’s day with his positive outlook &
attitude, and his “tall skills” (he reaches the stuff at the
top of the cabinets the rest of us can’t reach). But even
more, he’s a thoughtful vision therapist, ready to challenge
and encourage his patients.
Miss Kara’s sister did VT when she was a kiddo and it’s
what inspired her to become a vision therapist.Vision
therapy made a huge, positive impact on her sister (her
sister is now pursuing her Master’s Degree!). Kara
wanted to be a part of this life-changing journey for others
who were frustrated & struggling in school by teaching them
the necessary visual skills and inspiring them to reach their
potential.
Miss Ryleigh became interested in vision therapy because of
her background in neuroscience and passion for dog agility
(dogs have to judge distances & space to jump accurately).
Miss Ryleigh always brings a smile and so much fun to her vision therapy sessions

Congratulations and THANK YOU to all Vision Therapists working hard to change lives. We all appreciate everything you do for your patients and communities. Vision Therapists were nominated for their thoughtfulness, compassion, and their role as an integral part of a successful office.
