This a great time to reinforce what our organization’s purpose and values are. COVD’s board of directors adopted a strategic plan in November 2018 and updated in October 2019. As part of the process, the board identified COVD’s core ideology, which is a timeless, consistent identity that transcends all changes related to the relevant environment. The core ideology consists of two elements, the core purpose and the core values.

The core purpose of the organization is improving lives by advancing excellence in optometric vision therapy and rehabilitation through education and board certification. The core values identified are:

  • Quality
  • Integrity
  • Progressive
  • A welcoming and inclusive caring community

The COVD board of directors would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our purpose and values. COVD will continue to thrive as an organization, even in difficult times such as we find ourselves currently, if we are guided by our values. As it relates to being a welcoming, inclusive and caring community, this board stands united against discrimination of any kind and we continue to hold our hearts and minds open to the needs of our stakeholders including members and the public.
